Hall of Fame
George Werling was an all-around athlete during his years at Latin, lettering in football, basketball, and track. He was a member of the 1945 and 1946 teams that won oth the City and State titles. His 35-yard touchdown against Holy Name in the 1946 Charity Game before 71,000 fans gave the Lions a 35-6 victory.
George was a member of the '46 and '47 basketball teams. He lettered in track for four years and consistently scored points in relays and sprints. As a freshman, the relay team broke the Canton McKinley record.
