Hall of Fame
Robert Weppner played football on the varsity starting at center in his sophomore year, and continued to be a regular for three seasons. During his time on the varsity, his teams went 15-10-3. The 1922 team beat St. Ignatius 34-0 to claim the Catholic City Title. In 1923, they lost to St. Ignatius 19-13, but in 1924 they regained the City Title beating St. Ignatius 13-9. Highlighting his senior year, a team which was 7-1-1, was a tie with Steubenville who had not lost a game in three years and tied Latin in the last minute of play. Undefeated Painsville also fell to Latin 27-7 that season.Â
Weppner was chosen on the All-Scholastic team at center in his senior year. He was also a member of the track team in his senior year.
