Hall of Fame
Les Mitchell was a member of the track team for three years. As a sophomore, he was a member of the shuttle hurdles and relay teams that placed fourth in the West Tech Relays. He was selected MVP on the team as a junior. Les posted outstanding times of 9.9 seconds in the 100 yard dash, 21.8 seconds in the 220, and 50.1 in the 440 dash in his junior year.
As a tri-captain of the team his senior year, he qualified for the state finals in both the 100 yard dash and as a member of the 880 relay team, which finished fifth in the state. Mitchell also participated as a junior and senior on the lions football squad as a regular running back on teams that won 15 games and lost four. The senior team finished second in the East Senate.
