Tom Manning earned three monograms as a lineman for the Purple & Gold. As a sophomore, he was a substitute tackle. In his junior year, he was a regular guard on the team that won the Catholic title and first Charity Game over Central 8-0. This effort capped a season of nine wins and one tie. In his senior year, Manning was captain of the team as they posted a record of nine wins and one loss. They won the Catholic title and the second Charity Game against Collinwood 13-0. As a result of his outstadning play, Tom was selected to the first All-Scholastic team. Tom went on to the University of Dayton where he played football and was selected on the All-Buckeye Ohio team.
