Richard Manning was a regular for two seasons on the Lions basketball team. As a junior, he was third leading scorer as the team went 8-6. As a senior, Manning was co-captain of the team that went 12-5. Latin beat Benedictine 57-36 at the arena for second place in the East Senate. Dick was the second leading team scorer and third leading scorer in the Senate. He was selected by the Cleveland News and Cleveland Press first team All-East Senate and first team All-Scholastic.Â
Manning attended Duqusne University on a basketball scholarship. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1961. Richard also served as a Colonel in the U.S. Army, serving as a child psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
