Dudley Murphy was an outstanding member of the Lions basketball team for three years, two as a regular. As a junior , the team went 11-9 and 9-11 as a senior. He was the Cleveland area leading scorer as well as Crown Conference high scorer with a record 209 points. One weekend he scored 71 points, an average of 25.9 points per game, shooting 55% from the field and 84% from the foul line. He was selected to first team Crown Conference, Press All-Scholastic, and Plain Dealer second team All-Scholastic. As a senior, Murphy also played baseball.
He attended John Carroll University where he played basketball and was the MVP his junior and senior years.
