While Latin football suffered some downs in the fifties, it still continued its tradition of winning a city title in each decade with its '54 title. Leading the Lions to that pinnacle was Mike Jezior. He anchored an offensive line that led the city in rushing. His athleticism was such that, in 1955 he played both ways. Being named captain of the '55 squad was an early indication of the leadership qualities tha Mike possessed. Receiving an appointment to West Point, he played football and was named most valuable lineman in his senior year.

Mike served his country well for 24 years, retiring as a Full Colonel. Upon retirement, he assumed a job with the New York City Health Hospital Corp., serving as an engineer.
