Playing defense for the 1972 Lions football team, Mike Iacampo was affectionately known as a "Purple-People Eater". With Mike's intense style of play, he had more than 110 solo and assisted tackles. Mike and the Lions' defense helped defeat undefeated St. Edward (25-0) and Padua Franciscan (35-0), holding both teams to just five first downs.

Mike said the highlight of the '72 season was tying St. Joseph High School (0-0) in the Crown Conference Championship among 13,000 fans. The '72 Lions finished their season with a record of 7-2-1. Mike credits his teammates for helping him achieve this honor today.
