Larry Eiben was a three-year member of the football varsity, playing regularly during his last two years at fullback. His senior team under coach Sam Ruvolo went 8-2. Coach Ruvolo called Eiben "the best fullback he coached in 16 years." Evidently the experts agreed as he was placed on the All-Scholastic, All-Senate, and All-Catholic teams for the 1965 season. Larry was also tri-captain of the basketball team which only went 4-13 during the season, but went on to win four games in tournament play and in the sectional title. He was the teams second highest scorer and was chosen to the second All-Tournament team.
