Few high school football teams can say that they had a perfect season, unless of course you were a member of the Cathedral Latin 1954 team. The undefeated squad was truly one o Cleveland's all-time great high school teams. Highlights of the '54 season include beating St. Ignatius in the home opener (19-13), as well as Benedictine (40-0) for the first time since 1947.

With lineman averaging 217 pounds, and offense scoring an average of 45 points per game, the Lions had shut out six straight opponents leading into their 13th City Championship. Led by co-captians Pete Pucher and Bob Fitzgerald, the team beat Holy Name (13-0) in the Plain Dealer's Charity Game and were crowned champions of the East Senate. They had a perfect season (10-0) and amassed a total of 415 points while only surrendering 29 points.
