Hall of Fame
As a junior, Vince won the high jump at the Mansfield Relays and the District State Qualifies. In his senior year, he won the high jump at the Mansfield relays, Ohio State Relays, the District State Qualifies, and the Ohio State Championship. He set records at the Ohio State Relays and the District State Qualifies. His only loss in 1931 was to the great Jesse Owens, who he beat at the Ohio State Relays and tied at another event. Vince is the only individual Latin athlete to achieve a national interscholastic track & field championship, winning the University of Chicago National Interscholastic Championship.Â
He went on to the University of Notre Dame where he wa captain of the track team in 1935. Vince passed away in 1954.
