As a sophomore, Tim played on the junior varsity football and basketball teams. On the varsity football team, he played for two years. As a junior, the team won six and lost three, finishing second in the East Senate league. As a senior, Latin dropped out of the Senate League amd played an independent schedule.Tim was a co-captain and regular quarterback, as the team won four and lost five. Latin lost to St. Ignatius 21-20 in the last 10 seconds and to St. Joseph 28-26. Tim scored 17 touchdowns by passes and runs during the season. Against St. Ignatius, he completed 15 out of 29 passes for 183 yards, including one touchdown. Tim also ran 15 times for 87 yards, twice for touchdowns. The Plain Dealer called him one of the finest quarterbacks around.Â
Tim's excellent play earned him Plain Dealer Dream Team and Press Star honors and a quarterback on the All-Scholastic squad. Tim was a regular on the varsity baseball team for three years. As a sophomore, the team won the East Senate title and lost to St. Ignatius for the City title. He went to John Carroll University and played football.
