Herman Hirsch becomes the second member of this year's inductees who was a lineman. He was a regular guard during both his junior and senior years. After losing their first two games, the Lions went on to win seven games and tied one. This was good enough to take the Lions to the City Championship game that they won 26-0 over West Tech. Hirsch's outstanding play at guard earned him All-Scholastic and All-Ohio honors. In addition to these outstanding awards, he was selected to the Cleveland Press All-Star team that went to St. Petersburg, Florida to play in the annual Kumquat Bowl on Christmas Day.
