Charlie Algier was a member of the first, co-ed freshman class to graduate from NDCL in 1992. He was a four-year football and basketball player and also a vital member for NDCL's baseball team his first three years in high school. He earned the starting quarterback position his junior year, which ended with an impressive 6-4 record for the newly co-ed school. Charlie went on to play defensive back his senior year.
Charlie was a guard on NDCL's basketball team all four years. He also proved to be a versatile player in baseball, pitching as well as playing third base and center field. During his senior year, he decided to run track. He ran the mile, two mile, and 4x800 relay. His times were 4:36 in the mile and 9:27 in the two mile.
Charlie earned a B.S. in chemical engineering in 1996 from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. While at Notre Dame, he was enrolled in the Navy ROTC program. Upon graduating from college, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy.
