George Raggets was the "toe" of the Latin Lions football team. He was a regular guard on the 1945 team that went 9-0 and tied Massillon, won the City Title of the P.D. Charity Game and were State Champs. As a member of the 1946 team, he enjoyed another outstanding year as the Lions went 9-0 and tied Holy Name. They beat Massillon 14-7 and although Holy Name held Latin to a scoreless tie at the Stadium during the season, they met again at the stadium before 70,955 fans and the Lions won the City Title 35-6. George set a Charity Game record kicking five consecutive points after touchdowns. During his two years on the varsity, George's place kicking and punting helped Latin win 18 games, lose zero, and tie two. In addition to two city titles and two state titles, he scored 26 points after touchdowns. George was selected to the All-Scholastic first team.
