Hall of Fame
John Finucan was an outstanding offensive guard for three years on the varsity football team. As a sophomore, his team was 5-4-1. As the only non-senior starter as a junior the team went 7-2-1 and was co-champs of the Crown Conference. As a senior, John was the only regular returning from the previous season and offensive guard on the line as the team went 1-8-1. However, his outstanding play was noted as he was selected to the Cleveland Press All-Scholastic team, Plain Dealer All-Scholastic squad, All-Crown Conference Offensive team, Associated Press All-Ohio Second Team, and All N.E. District Class AAA First Team.
John was on the East Team for the Cuyahoga All-Star Game and Latin Lineman of the Year as well as MVP. In addition to his selection on the Call & Post All-Scholastic Team, he was picked as an All-American on the Coach Athlete's Prep Football 100 Squad - all this with a losing team. John accepted a football scholarship to Purdue University where he played on the varsity squad.
