Peter Pucher was the quarterback and co-captain of the outstanding team of 1954 which was 10-0, and won the City Championship at the annual Charity Game at Cleveland Stadium beating Holy Name 12-0 before 33,000 fans. As a junior, his team went 8-1. The loss was to Benedictine 7-6, who won the East Senate title. The team scored 246 points to their opponents 39. Pete completed his junior year without having a pass intercepted. His senior team was 10-0 winning the City title and was ranked fifth in the state. The team scored 424 points to their opponents 26, they had seven shutouts. Peter was chosen on the first team All-East Senate and the first team All-Catholic by the Universe Bulletin. They were the first team since 1944 to be undefeated and untied. He also played basketball for the Lions as a junior and the team was 16-5 finishing second in the East Senate, but winning sectional and district titles before losing at regionals. As a senior, he was a regular and the team was 13-7 and tied for second and beat Glenville to go on to beat St. Ignatius for the City Runner-Up title. Pete was the third highest scorer on the team with 182 points and was selected to the Call & Post All-Scholastic team.
