During his four years at Latin, Terry played basketball, football, and baseball. Of the three sports, McGrath excelled on the football field playing center and linebacker for the Varsity Lions squad as a sophomore.
Some highlights of Terry's football career include: pounding Holy Name (63-0) in the 1964 season, beating St. Ignatius consecutively ('65-'66) and blocking a punt to defeat Collinwood (1966). McGrath was elected co-captain, selected to the All-East Senate and All-Catholic teams, and awarded Most Valuable Lineman. He credits his success to lifelong friend and coach Sam Ruvolo.
