Dan Keefe was an outstanding trackman for three years at Latin. He started setting records in his sophomore year as a member of the four mile relay team that set a new school record, as well as setting a new school record in the two-mile run. At the Miami Relays, he won the one mile steeple chase. As a junior, he won the mile run at the Rebel Relays and was the City indoor champ. During his junior season, he set six track meet records and a new school record in the mile run of 4:24.20. He also qualified for the State Meet in Columbus. Dan ran on the cross country team as a senior and was captain of the team that was undefeated in five meets. He was also undefeated in these meets. As a tri-captain of the track team in his senior year, Dan ran the 880, one mile, two mile, and relays. He broke his own school record in the mile run at 4:20.40. He qualified for the State Meet where he finished fourth in the mile run.
