Hall of Fame
Dan becomes our first wrestler to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He won a sectional title as a junior in the 185-pound class. As a senior, he was the only winner against state powerhouse St. Edward, won the Hawken Invitational Tournament, and sectional and district tournaments. He took his undefeated record to the state tournament in Columbus where he lost his first and only match of the season to a wrestler who went on to win the "AA" State title. Dan had defeated him the pervious week. Dan won the third place trophy, a first for Latin.
He was selected for East Side-West Side All-Star teams and handed the State "AAA" champ his first defeat. Dan had been selected as the Plain Dealer Wrestler of the Week and was voted the most valuable wrestler on the Latin team. He also played two years as a linebacker and was selected the most valuable defensive player as a senior and earned All-Crown Conference honors.Â
Dan receieved a wrestling scholarship to Indiana University.Â
