Ed was a member of the track team for three years. He was elected captain in 1929. As a sophomore, he was a member of the mile relay team that won in the citywide C.A.C. Meet at Public Hall.

In the following three years, Ed won or scored points for Latin in the following events at various times: mile relay, 880 Yard Relay, 440 Relay, 100 Yard Dash, High Jump, and Broad Jump. Ed may have scored more individual points in his three years than any other track man in Latin history.

In 1928, Ed competed in a track meet in Chicago and won four medals. He qualified for the state track meet in Columbus in 1928 and 1929. In 1929, he finished fourth in the broad jump. He also qualified for 100 and 440-yard dashes, but was eliminated in the preliminaries. He was voted most popular athlete in his senior class.

Ed passed away in 1997.
