Jack Goodrich was a great all-around athlete at Latin. In basketball, he led the East Senate in scoring as a junior. Playing forward, he helped Latin win its first district championship in 1954. Injured much of his senior year, he still helped the Lions earn second place East Senate finish. The lions went on to beat St. Ignatius in the Senate Consoloation Game.
In football, he started two years at halfback on outstanding teams under Dan Mormile. Although missing several games his senior year, he scored ten touchdowns. He was selected the MVP of the 1954 Charity Game. The 13-0 victory over Holy Name capped a perfect season for the Lions (11-0) before 33,000 fans at the Cleveland Stadium.
