Hall of Fame
While Jim Pedley's initial attempt at pole vaulting resulted in a broken arm, his spirit and enthusiasm to master the sport ignited. During his four years at Latin, Jim taught himself how to vault imitating the likeness of Fred Werth '65. His dedication and hard work came full circle senior year when he clinched a spot to the State Track Meet in Columbus with a school record 13ft 1 in vault.
To his surprise, Hall of Fame Football Coach Sam Ruvolo recognized his success that year with the Most Improved Athlete Award - an honor no athlete prior had ever received.
Jim's vaulting career continued after graduation day, coaching at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida and competing at Senior Track & Field competitions around the U.S.
