Hall of Fame
Larry Dineen was a member of an outstanding track team which included stars such as Joe Prokop and Dick Tupta, already members of the Hall of Fame. Larry was outstanding in the 880 yard run and 440 yard dash, as well as a member of the mile relay which won every race except the last two. The mile relay team finished second to Central in the State Meet and also in the Senate Meet. Both teams broke the Senate Record in a very close race. Latin won the Suburban Division A title at the Arena. The mile relay team took first place and Larry won the 440 and 880. At the Mansfield Relays, Larry was second in the 440 yard dash, won the 880 yard run at the Heights Relays, and won the 440 yard dash at the Salem Relays. He set a school record 22.3 seconds in the 220 yard dash at the Glenville Meet. He placed second in the State Meet in the 440 yard dash. After graduation from Latin, Larry went on to Seton Hall and was a member of the half-mile relay team which set a new world record of 1:32. At the end of the school year he held records in the 200 yard, 220 yard, 880 yard (outdoor), and one mile relay (indoors) and the medley relay.
