Robert DeSapri of 1962 was an outstanding quarterback for two years for the Latin Lions. As a junior, the team went 7-3 and co-champs of the East Senate, the Lions lost their playoff game to Benedictine 26-18 and lost their chance to play in the Charity Game for the City title. DeSapri was chosen on first team All-Catholic.Â
As a senior, the team won six, lost two, and tied one. They were again co-champs of the East Senate and went on to play Holy Name for the City Title. The Lions lost 12-7. During the season, Bob completed 67 out of 131 passes for 1,088 yards. Coach Sam Ruvolo called DeSapri "one of the best quarterbacks in the state."Â
Robert went on to play football for Xavier University.
