Robert Fitzgerald was the co-captain of Latin's undefeated (11-0) City Champs of the 1954 football season beating Holy Name before over 33,000 at the Plain Dealer City Championship game at Cleveland Stadium. Bob played end on this great Latin team which was coached by Dan Mormile and Ab Strosnider, who are both now deceased. Recognition as to Bob's talent as an outstanding end were the numerous teams on which he was placed, including All-American, All-Ohio, All-Scholastic, All-Catholic, and All-Senate. He went on to play football at John Carroll University and was captain of the 1959 team which was undefeated. He was All-PAC and second team All-Ohio.
