Wally Keils started scoring points for the Lions in track meets as a sophomore. As a junior, he was member of the two-mile relay which set a meet record at the Cleveland Arena and finished fourth in the mile relay. He also helped set new meet records in the two mile and one mile relay at the Mansfield Relays, Heights Relays in the one mile relay, and two new records at the Salem Relays in the two mile and one mile relay. The mile relay team finished second at the State Championship. As a senior, Wally in addition to participating in relay events, ran the 440 and 880 yard run. The two mile relay team won the Mansfield and West Tech Relays. Wally was also captain of the 1940 squad which was coached by Al Strosnider.
